Featured Pet Of The Week

UPDATE: So this guy went to a St. Patrick's Day parade event with us last weekend and was AMAZING! Nearly every person that he met, as soon as he made eye contact, he flipped over and begged for a belly rub! Children, adults -- everyone! He did Bark at one guy with a hat, but after a scolding, was fine. That was his only incident. He will absolutely be best in a foster home and NOT a shelter environment as he does not do well behind a fence, but out in public I saw for my own eyes that he was VERY, VERY good. Nice boy

Townes is a great younger dog. Adopted from us as a 3-4 month pup, he was recently returned to us as his owner had passed away. His right leg is a birth defect that does not slow him down at all. He was in a staff's home as a temp foster during a building crisis we had earlier this year and did beautifully with her Newfoundland, yorkie and cat. He does not show particularly well at the shelter however as he gets wiggy at the gate and does seem to have some barrier aggression. Temp foster said that did extend to her fenced in back yard -- he would get fussed at neighbors through the fence but on walks or outside of a fence was GREAT. Once out of the kennel, he walks on leash well and interacts with all well. He is a little shy at first but snaps out of that pretty quickly. Great guy.

Meet Todd. Todd came in as his owner had passed away. A son of the man was supposed to take him, but decided against it. Todd is about as mild mannered as they come -- SUPER SWEET DOG and has been incredibly well taken care of since his adoption as a younger guy. We have 82 pages of medical pages on him -- blood tests etc. He is utd on shots and apparently has always been. Biggest issue is he is a tad bit overweight but owner was even working on that according to vet notes. This guy needs a couch and a family to let him live out the rest of his life like the way he has been accustomed to. 67#

Belle, Australian Cattle Dog/Pit Mix
3 years   Female

Belle came in with a homeless individual who unfortunately wasn't able to keep her. She is one such a nice looking gal -- definitely gets attention. Our trainer was particularly taken with her. He said she constantly watches the humans around her, looking for direction (the blue heeler in her of course)and it was amazing to watch.... she really does check in when you know what to watch for. He predicted she would be VERY easy to train. She gets along with many dogs -- not all, likely not cats but we have not cat tested her.

King, 2-3 year old Black Pitbull/Lab Mix
2-3 year old   M/N

I would describe this guy as an old soul. He is pretty mellow although can kick up his heels too. He does well with every dog we've tried him, with and cats are of no bother either. Easy, laid back pittie.

Maizy, F/S, 2-3 year old Lab Mix, Blonde
2-3 years old   F/S

Maizy was just returned to us and is very bummed. Apparently she has pretty significant separation anxiety -- and of course returning her didn't help. Very timid in her kennel. In a home setting she follows people around and doesn't let them out of her sight. needs some work but a real diamond in the rough.

She is submissive -- but not a submissive pee-er that we have noticed here

Wilbur, M, Brown & White Boxer Mix 3-4 yeard old
3-4 years old   M

Wilbur is a big goof! Always a grin on his face! Also appears to be crate trained -- he runs into a crate and almost always keeps his crate clean. Likes other dogs -- not clear on cats. ONe of our staff favorites.
