VOLUNTEERING at the SHELTER
The Shelter could use more volunteers. Volunteers help in many ways: general everyday cleaning, answering phones, socializing & exercising the pets.
Please contact us if you are interested. You must be at least 16 years of age.
If you only have an hour a week to help out, that is okay! We can use any time that you have. Please fill out the application on the bottom or our Facebook page.

Please email animal.shelter39@jeffersoncounty.in.gov or call 812-273-1788 if our normal hours do not work for you so we can schedule an appointment OR if you are bringing your pet to find a companion.

FEE SCHEDULE
FEE SCHEDULE: Cash, Card or Check
Un-Altered animals, cats or dogs, are $30 adoption fee (this covers the vaccination given at the shelter, worming medication,and flea meds). You will then pre-pay for spay/neuter and rabies vaccination. Full cost to adopt depends on the vet you would like to use and what they charge for those services.
Dogs that have already been altered and are current on rabies vaccination are $125 to adopt.
Cats that have already been altered and are current on rabies vaccination are $45 to adopt.

OWNER RECLAIM:
Minimum $15 - Maximum $50
*Must have proof of ownership.
*Proof of Rabies vaccination and ID required for reclaim. If a pet is not current on rabies you will need to schedule an appointment before leaving with your pet..
OWNER RELINQUISH:
The prices for owner relinquish are as follows:
Adult K9/cat/single puppy/kitten: $45
Litter of puppies/kittens 8 weeks or older (3 or more): $60
When surrendering multiple animals (that do not fall under the litter of puppies/kittens category) the first is $45 and any additional is $15
*No aggressive or obviously ill animals will be accepted into the shelter
